Watch the video below and see all the inside details you need for your stay in Metro Manila!
I know that many people are sceptical about Metro Manila as a travel destination, but it has an amazing airport offering flights internally to everywhere and also some great international flights. So there is a big chance you will spend a day or two in Manila just in between your travels.
That is why I have put together a video on things to do in Metro Manila!
To not confuse things, let me explain – for travellers, we know ‘Manila’ as the capital city of the Philippines, but in the reality, the official name of the capital is ‘Metro Manila’ and there is an actual area in Metro Manila that is called just ‘Manila’. So be careful when booking and planning your stay there!
My top places to visit:
Manila Bay – a cool place where to chill
Mall of Asia – you can literally get everything there!
Intramuros - Spanish heritage in the Philippines
‘Spiral’ – The best buffet in the entire world, to find out more click here: https://restaurants.accorhotels.com/gb/restaurant-6308_R002-spiral-manila.shtml
Best place to stay in Metro Manila
I would recommend you stay in Makati, it is a business centre but a lot of people live here too, especially expats, as this is one of the safest and most organized areas. Here you will find a lot of shopping centres, food places and parks to go to. Good alternatives to stay at are Bonifacio Global City and Ortigas Center, as they are new business centres too.
Moving around Metro Manila
As I mentioned in the video, you need to try Jeepney, only try to do it outside rush hours! An easy way to get around the city is to use ‘Grab’, which is an application similar to ‘Uber’ and will safely get you from point A to B. You can use it to order food and load your data too https://www.grab.com/ph/ , I used it myself for 3 months when I travelled around the Philippines and South East Asia and I didn't have any issues.
I hope these tips will help you plan your days better in Metro Manila!
