Best Areas to Stay in Bansko | Bulgaria

I stayed in Bansko for 3 months, and I believe your time in Bansko is highly dependent on where you pick your accommodation. Depending on your priorities and how long you are planning to stay in Bansko, I will share with you the best areas to stay at!

Overall best location - 10 minute radius from the main ski lift

If you are coming over for a short holiday and your main priority is skiing, then staying within the blue circle will be your best choice. This also goes for those staying long-term and prioritizing skiing:

Just avoid staying next to the red cross. It is a very loud bar there. It blasts music till late, especially during peak season weekends. Of course, if loud music doesn't bother you, then it is the prime location next to the ski resort.

I feel like anything outside that circle is too far. You either need to carry your equipment for 15 minutes or waste time driving and paying for parking or a taxi. There is, of course, parking next to the ski lift, but it costs starting 9 Euros.

In general, this location within the blue circle is great, because you are within walking distance to the ski lift, a lot of restaurants, a pharmacy, and loads of ski rental and school options. If you are coming over for a week's holiday, you will find everything you need within that border.

Also, for those staying long-term and prioritizing skiing, this is the best location. I stayed within the blue circle and absolutely loved it. Very convenient location.

For long-term stays in Bansko

For those staying in Bansko long-term, loving nature and hikes, I highly recommend this exact area:

It is an absolutely perfect area if you like nature and want to go for nice walks. Also, at the same time close to the ski lift and all the shops and restaurants. You live in this peaceful area surrounded by forest and still just 10 minutes or even less walk away from everything you need. I stayed there, and if I were to return to Bansko, I would book in the exact same area. It is a very lovely, quiet corner of Bansko, but still within walking distance to everything.

And don't worry about the uphill; by staying in that area, you will have shortcuts to the slope. So you can literly walk on the slope and slide to the ski lift or on your way back down, just stop where it is closest to your accommodation.

For those who are planning to stay long-term but maybe skiing is not the priority, I would recommend the city center. I do see the appeal if you are a digital nomad and want cool coffee shops and a social environment to be in. As I mentioned in my Bansko Travel Guide, the city center is lovely. So those looking for maybe a more regular vibe, Bansko city center will also work:

I honestly don't see why you would stay anywhere other than these 3 areas. Anything else will require you to use a car or pay for taxis.

In general, Bankso is very safe, so you do not need to worry about safety. Bansko is in this little chill mountain bubble.
